What is the Best Job Search Site?

by Tom Donovan on January 25, 2010

There are thousands of sites on the web that allow job search posting, offer resume advice and career development. So which site is the best job search site for you to use when looking for a new job. Before the web the conventional way to look for a job was to open up the newspaper and search through the employment ads. This is being done less and less today, I don’t know anyone who actually uses a newspaper anymore to find a job, especially those who want to find a job quickly. By researching jobs in a newspaper you are getting job postings that might be a couple of days old. When searching online you can view the freshest job openings available.

All businesses use the web to promote job openings they might have because it saves them time and money. By posting an ad online they receive many more responses in a quicker amount of time. The issue a company has when posting an online job opening is the hassle of searching through qualified and unqualified candidates to fill their open position.

So if you are looking for a job and you are wondering what the best job search site on the web is then I have a very simple answer for you. There isn’t one there are many. The reason you should be searching on a couple of different search sites is because many companies use one site to post their job offers and some companies use more than one site to post their job offers. So for you to maximize your opportunity to find a good job in today’s market then you need to search multiple websites.

I am suggesting that you search multiple sites however I recommend you don’t get bogged down by over exerting yourself in searching to many sites or you will burn yourself out. So I will recommend a couple of the biggest job search engines that could all be considered the best job search site by different company’s and career professionals. If you are looking for a job then it is my recommendation that you sign up for all of the sites and keep an updated resume with each of them.

Start out with these 5 online job search engines you have probably heard of most of them before:

  1. Indeed.com
  2. Hotjobs.com
  3. Monster.com
  4. Job.com
  5. Careerbuilder.com

Once you sign up with these sites make sure you follow through with your daily job searches and application submissions. You will never find a good job if you just sign up for the sites and you don’t use them. Take advantage of the tools they offer and the advice they give you. Don’t fall in love with one site just because it is easier to use then the others. The site could be a pain to use but if it offers the best jobs in your profession then you should use it the most.

I am always looking for the best job search site so send me your recommendations in the comments below.
